In my A2 coursework I have created three products; a main music video and two ancillary task consisting of a magazine advert and a digipak. I decided to create all three of these products around the song ‘Latch’ by Disclosure.

When coming to create my music video I had already researched the lyrics to the song ‘Latch’ by Disclosure, and discovered that the lyrics explain and tell a story of two people falling head over heels in love with each other. Therefore when coming to create my music video I kept this idea of love in mind however I decided to create it with a modern twist and instead of having two people falling in love with each other, I decided to show a group of women taking on and falling in love with a huge iconic city, such as New York.

The music video portrays a variety of shots of a group of women walking the streets of New York in very many interesting and unusual places. I focused a lot on lights and colours throughout my music video therefore decided to shoot in a location with a neon orange mirrored escalators and a neon blue light box to keep the fun light hearted feel of New York. I also decided to have only women featured in my music video because I wanted to empower the women and gender, and portray that women can go traveling and take on a huge city alone without a male presence.

My music video is fully narrative based because I wanted my audience to relate and identify to my characters and to use my music video as an idea of entertainment and escapism.
